Presidents Struck by Hemorrhoids

In modern times, the presidents of the United States have always been classified as the world's strongest man, due to their influence and the country's military strength. Despite this however, even they were left searching for hemorrhoid relief – this complication does not exempt anyone, even the strongest men in the world. Remember, hemorrhoids are nothing to be ashamed of – they can form easily and are very common; even movie stars had them. So, let's discuss what's left out in history books: who are the presidents that had bad cases of hemorrhoids?

Jimmy Carter had a really bad case of hemorrhoids

Jimmy Carter

James Earl Carter, or commonly known by his nickname Jimmy, is the 39th President of the United States and was always looking for hemorrhoid relief. During his tenure as president, he had a really bad case of hemorrhoids, especially in 1978. He wrote in his book that during that year on Christmas Eve, the president of Egypt, Anwar Sedat, PUBLICLY told the Egyptians pray for his good friend due to hemorrhoids.

Aside from which, he also had to leave a White House party due to the “incapacitating pain” caused by the hemorrhoids. He also suffered from it during his time in the navy, which would make it a recurring problem.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt had anemia because of hemorrhoids

Franklin Roosevelt

The 32nd President of the United States who served the country during World War 2, FDR served from 1933 until his death in 1945. He was best known for making the country escape the Great Depression and for leading it during total war. Having said that, he is also the president that had been elected for four consecutive terms and was also struck with polio when he was 39 years old, leaving him paralyzed from the waist.

In May 1941, FDR suffered from severe iron deficiency or anemia. Why? Well, it was because of severe hemorrhoidal bleeding. According to Harold Ickes, the Interior Secretary at the time noted that FDR's bleeding was so severe that he required blood transfusions. The anemia quickly responded to the transfusions and the ferrous sulfate treatment.

George W. Bush had intestinal polyps – and hemorrhoids

George W. Bush

Describing himself as the “wartime” president, George W. Bush is the 43rd one in office. His presidency was marred by numerous conflicts, particularly in Afghanistan and Iraq. He was also in office when the infamous 9/11 terrorist attack occurred.

Although he had not sought hemorrhoid relief during his time in office, he had suffered from them when he was in the National Guard. He also had intestinal polyps which were removed in 1998 and 1999

The whole point of this article is not to shame or expose their medical records, but to tell you that hemorrhoids are nothing to be ashamed about. The most powerful persons in the world had it, and so can you. When you're experiencing this complication, it is important to immediately seek hemorrhoid relief and try out easy home cures and remedies. Consult your physician – it's nothing to be embarrassed about. Remember, it affects two-thirds of the population!
