Easy Home Cures for Hemorrhoids

Thrombosed External Hemorrhoid
Despite being relatively common, people with piles refuse to have a checkup, this making the condition worse – little do they know that a home cure for hemorrhoids are just a stone's throw away. There's nothing to be ashamed about if you have swollen blood vessels on your anal and rectal areas, given that this condition has already been experienced by a whopping, two-thirds of the population. Despite this fact, you wouldn't want to tell anyone that you're experiencing it right? It's very understandable, so it is better to resort to natural and home-based treatment. The cure you're looking for might be in your medicine cabinet or fridge!

Witch hazel

One of the most effective home cure of hemorrhoids is witch hazel. Basically, it is a plant whose bark and leaves are distilled and turned into an ointment that can magically relieve hemorrhoids. It can do so mainly because the plant has astringent properties – meaning it can shrink and reduce the swelling of the blood vessels, which are actually what hemorrhoids are.  Aside from which, it also soothes the pain and gets rid of the annoying itch. This herbal medicinal plant is even referred to by many as the “healing tree”, given that it can also soothe burns, quell allergies, stop minor bleeding and skin irritation.

Sitz bath

One of the best home cure for hemorrhoids is by taking a sitz bath, paired up with a regular bath. First off, clean off the area with mild soap and water and fill the bathtub or sitz chair with warm water. After which, soak the affected with warm water for 10-15 minutes. This will improve circulation and ensure that your hemorrhoids are cleaned and disinfected. Add astringent herbs and liquid (like witch hazel) to the bath in order to hasten hemorrhoid relief. Immediately wipe the area with a clean tissue paper after doing so.

Painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs and ice

Though most painkillers are chemically produced, they can prove to be an effective home cure for hemorrhoids. Take nonprescription ones like Tylenol to help you out. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are also recommended in order to reduce the pain and swelling, like naproxen and ibuprofen. Having said that however, be sure to ask your doctor just to be safe, given that you may have existing medical conditions that make these unsafe. Lastly, go with the traditional treatment of swelling – ice. If it's effective for bruises, then it's effective in reducing hemorrhoid swelling. Apply ice for ten minutes, and do a sitz bath afterward!

Water, water, PURE water

When people say that you should drink at least eight glasses of water a day, you should drink PURE water, not counting the bottles of soda you consumed. For dietary fiber to take into effect (the compound that softens stools, found in green leafy plants), you need to drink up a lot of water. Why? Well, aside from helping out digestive processes, it helps the fiber in softening stools, thus avoiding constipation and straining.

Overall, remember that home cure for hemorrhoids are attainable and can be found inside your home. Just follow the tips mentioned above and you will live a hemorrhoid-free life in no time!
