How Does One Get Hemorrhoids?

Actually, everybody has hemorrhoids: they're just actually blood vessels in the anal and rectal area, but when they swell, you will certainly be running around looking for hemorrhoid home treatment. Having said that, hemorrhoids are definitely one of the worst complications you can ever have: it either bleeds or hurts a lot – could also cause both. Knowing the factors and situations that cause them is essential to prevention. Remember, this ailment exempts no one, even presidents! So, how does one get hemorrhoids?

Straining on the toilet

When your parents told you not to force your waste to come out when you're sitting on the toilet, believe them. They're actually doing you a favor: the primary cause of hemorrhoids is straining during potty sessions. Applying constant pressure to force them to come out will have an adverse effect on the veins of your anus and rectum. They will get swollen, thus causing hemorrhoids as we know it. 

Constipation or hardened stools

The main reason why you strain on the toilet is mainly because of constipation, also known as the state wherein “your stools get so hard that otherworldly forces are needed to push them out”. This is caused by the lack of fiber and water in your diet. If you haven't been eating a lot of leafy vegetables, fruits, and beans, then constipation is foreseeable in the near future. How does fiber help? Well, if mixed with water, it forms a gelatinous substance that softens stools and makes them slippery, thus making them easier to expel. Aside from eating fiber, another way to prevent this is to immediately go to the toilet when you have the urge. The longer the stools stay on your intestines, the harder they get!

Hemorrhoids are a perennial problem for bodybuilders and weightlifters, mainly because whenever they lift something heavy, it produces a motion equivalent to straining on the toilet, thus adding pressure to the anal and rectal areas. Aside from suffering from muscle injuries and other complications this is one of the reasons why these athletes should never, ever over train, and take in too much protein at that. 

Diarrhea and frequent potty trips

Diarrhea is the exact opposite of constipation, because in this case, you poop watery stools and at times, water. Aside from which, you also don't have to apply much pressure to let it all out – it even comes out voluntarily! Jokes aside, diarrhea can cause hemorrhoids, due to you applying constant pressure on the anal and rectal veins. That said, it can also be potentially dangerous: it can cause dehydration, which is why you need to constantly drink water even if you will dump it in a matter of minutes. This complication can be caused by a number of ailments, but the best way to prevent it is to make sure that you're eating perfectly clean food from disinfected and bacteria-free utensils!

Even if hemorrhoids are not dangerous, some of the factors that cause them are. Aside from which, the pain and the discomfort that you'll get from them is close to unbearable. Treating them at home can be done, but if they are too much to bear, consult with a physician right away!
